Al-Takāthur
Verse 1
Competing with each other to boast about having more wealth [or] children distracted you from obeying Allāh.
Verse 2
And you continued to be distracted by that until you ended up at the graves and were buried among them.
Verse 3
Competing with others over wealth should never distract you in this way. You will come to know with clarity that a [good] place in the Hereafter is better for you.
Verse 4
Again then, be on alert: you will come to know the horrible outcome of your having been distracted from [working towards a good place in the Hereafter].
Verse 5
Competing with others over wealth should never distract you in this way. If you knew, really knew, you would have definitely refrained, having been put in check, and definitely rushed to save yourselves from destruction.
Verse 6
[By Allāh,] you will most definitely see the Blazing Hot Fire.
Verse 7
Again then, [by Allāh,] you will most definitely see it without harboring a doubt.
Verse 8
Again then, [by Allāh,] you will most definitely be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about every kind of good thing [you] enjoyed in life.
