Coffee from the bean refreshes the body,
A pleasure to taste, like wheat or honey.
A friend for life; on journeys, great company
Like the smell of musk when it spreads, incontestably
A soul’s desire, a bringer of bliss start of day
A bringer of joy to a good friend when it comes the slow way
What a wonderful drink when made by one knowing
To honor one’s guests, from those coming and those going
In every home, its virtue’s known as is its place
Engaging friends in good banter that isn’t debased
“Well done!” it says, while it’s smiling all the time
“Well done!” again—it’s high in stature and sublime
It has no faults, is never the cause of a hangover
So drink it unmixed and don’t fear sickness will take over
