What It Takes to Build a Good Family

The shaikh, Dr. Muḥammad ibn Ghālib Al-ʿUmarī, may Allāh protect him, said:

To build it the right way, a family needs a husband who does what’s between him and his Lord properly; knows his obligations and fulfills them; is noble and generous in his treatment [of others]; refined in speech; and good at taking care [of his family].

[And it needs] a wife who attends to the matters of her worship; knows her rights and obligations; recognizes her husband’s place and status; makes sure the respect due to him always remains; is content with whatever she gets; and refined in her speech and actions.

As for false appearances and ideals, they’re all too quick to disappear, lead to evil ends, and leave behind ugly traces.
