To Resemble Ādam or to Resemble Iblīs

Imām Ibn Taimiyyah, may Allāh have mercy on him, said:

As for sins, it’s upon the slave [of Allāh] to not commit them. If he were then to commit them, it’s upon him to repent from them. So whoever repents and regrets has a likeness to his father Ādam, and whoever persists and justifies has a likeness to his enemy Iblīs.
