The Truthful
یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَكُونُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ
O you who have believed, fear Allāh and be with those who are truthful.” (Al-Tawbah: 119)
Imām ʿAbd Al-Raḥmān ibn Nāṣir Al-Saʿdī, may Allāh have mercy on him, said, breaking down the explanation of the above verse:
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
“O you who have believed,” [that is], in Allāh and in [all] that He has commanded to be believed in, fulfill what faith requires—taking all measures to protect yourselves from the wrath of Allāh, High is He above all, by avoiding all that He has forbidden and keeping far away from it.
وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ
“And be with those who are truthful,” [that is], in [all] their words, actions, and affairs—those whose words are truthful, whose actions and affairs are nothing but truth: free of laziness and slackness; innocent of evil intents; full of pure and righteous intentions [for Allāh alone].
For indeed, truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise.
