A bad [end] and destruction are [in store] for every backbiter of people, every frequent attacker of their character or honor–
[he] whose concern has been to collect wealth and count it.
He thinks that he has guaranteed for himself, with this wealth that he has collected, permanence in this life and an escape from being held to account [on the Day of Reckoning].
The situation is not as he has thought: [by Allāh,] he will be flung into the Fire that crushes everything that is thrown into it.
And what will make you realize, O Messenger, what the reality of [that] Fire is?
It is indeed the Fire of Allāh, set alight, blazing intensely….
…that, due to the severity of its heat, goes right through bodies into the hearts.
Indeed, it is a closed cover upon them…
…[they who are bound] in lengthened chains and restraints so that they do not get out of it.
