Person asking: What’s the Islamic ruling concerning the taxidermy of animals like snakes and other than that?
Shaikh Al-Albānī: A lot of questions about this, and the answer is that if the taxidermy of the animal [is done] while it is alive, then [that’s] torture, so it’s not allowed. And if it [is done] after death, then there’s nothing prohibiting that from what we know.

السائل : ما حكم تحنيط الحيوانات كالأفعى و غيرها ؟
الشيخ : كثر السؤال عن هذا و الجواب أنه إذا كان التحنيط للحيوان و هو حي ففيه تعذيب فلا يجوز ، و إن كان بعد الموت فلا مانع من ذلك فيما نعلم
