Does Allah Need Us to Go Through Others When We Call upon Him?
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān

Shaikh Ṣāliḥ Al-Fawzān said:
Is Allāh the Mighty and Majestic in need of having an intermediary taken between himself and a slave?
Allāh the Mighty and All-High is near and ever-responding. He hears and sees, grants mercy and all kinds of good, and accepts repentance from His slaves. And He has not commanded us to set up intermediaries when calling upon [Him]; rather, He commanded us to call upon Him directly:
فَادْعُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ
So call upon Allāh [singly], making all worship and acts of obedience purely for Him alone. (Extract from Al-Ghāfir 14, English explanation)
And your Lord said: Call upon [and worship] Me [only], I will respond to you, [reward you, and forgive you]. Indeed, those who consider themselves too great to worship Me [alone] shall enter [the fire of] Jahannam, low and despicable. (Al-Ghāfir 60, English explanation)
Allāh commanded us to call upon Him directly, and He has not commanded us to set up intermediaries between ourselves and Him.
