Dialogue Between Husbands and Wives
The shaikh, Dr. Muḥammad ibn Ghālib Al-ʿUmarī, may Allāh protect him, said:
That there’s dialogue between husband and wife does not mean a woman stands as an equal partner to [her] man, debating and arguing with him as if she were a business partner, dividing shares with him, contesting rights and dues with him.
Many things [must] encircle dialogues between husbands and wives, from the most important of which are putting the husband in charge and trusting him to have the right view [on matters]—if that were something known from him in the past—to arrive at what will build the family and support its stability.
The wife of Saʿīd ibn Al-Musayyib said: “We did not use to speak to our husbands other than as you all speak to your leaders, ‘May Allāh rectify you, may Allāh protect you from all harms and faults.'”
