About Tasfiyah.com

The Meaning of al-Taṣfiyah

Al-taṣfiyah, according to Shaykh Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn Al-Albānī, is “the work of returning to the pure Islām, [cleansed] of all that has entered into it [of things contrary to the Qurʾān and Sunnah].” (Fatāwá Rābigh, tape 3, fatwá 3)

In combination with al-tarbiyah, the work of raising our youth upon the practice of true Islām, it is the only way the Muslim Ummah will return to a position of honor and might on Earth, as the shaikh noted in his famous lecture on the topic, Al-Taṣfiyah wa-l-Tarbiyah, published by Al-Maktabah al-Islāmiyyah in 1421 H:

When the Messenger (‎) has established [that] the only cure for removing the humiliation covering us is in [our] returning to the religion, it becomes obligatory upon us in that case to get an understanding of the religion by way of the people of knowledge—an understanding that is correct and in accordance with the Book and the Sunnah—and to raise our good, righteous youth upon that. This is the way to deal with the problem [of the humiliation of Muslims] that every Muslim [now] complains of….

There is no way out but to correct ourselves based upon our Islām, our religion, and this, as we have mentioned, does not come about through ignorance; it only happens with knowledge—until the Islāmic State is established on this Earth of ours. (33-4)

To this end, the shaikh advised:

…I enjoin everyone who is able to take part in bringing about the reality of this tremendous affair to work together, he along with others from those of different specializations, to make the Islām that came in the Book and the Sunnah clear [to everyone] and to raise the youth upon that. This is a reminder to be taken to heart, and the reminders that are to be taken to heart are of benefit to the believers. (33)

Our Goal

Our goal is to support the work of our Salafī scholars in returning to a true, pure understanding of Islām as it was revealed the Prophet (‎) and understood by his companions, may Allāh be pleased with them. We do this by translating and spreading their sayings and works to our English speaking readers.

Other brothers, like the respected students of knowledge at salaf.com, may Allāh reward them and protect them from every kind of harm, have been doing this kind of work for decades. We direct our readers to their websites and for a much larger base of translated knowledge on a wide variety of topics. We also direct our readers to miraathpublications.net, may Allāh reward them and protect them from every kind of harm, for their highly beneficial live sessions with scholars and major students of knowledge, as well as their ever growing base of written articles and points of benefit.

Our Scholars

Our scholars are those who follow and call to the pure Islām of those who proceeded us from the companions of the Prophet (‎) and those who followed them upon the Straight Path (the “Salaf”) from the first three generations of Muslims. They are the ones who call to singling out Allah our creator with all that is due to Him alone of worship, names and attributes of perfection; the ones who call to worshiping Him alone as the Messenger (‎) worshiped Him and obeyed Him, without any change or deviation from that in the slightest; the ones who call to protecting His religion from every new thing that might become attached to it unlawfully, for every new addition to the religion of Islām is a bidʿah (innovation), and every bidʿah is a deviation from the Straight Path, and every deviation from the Straight Path is in the Fire.

At the forefront of this Salafī call (“daʿwah”) in our time were great scholars who passed away including Muḥammad Nāṣir al-Dīn al-Albānī, ʿAbd al‑ʿAzīz ibn Bāz, Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ al-ʿUthaimīn, Muqbil ibn Hādī al-Wādiʿī, Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá al-Najmi, and Zayd ibn Muḥammad al-Madkhalī, may Allāh have mercy upon them.

And the Salafī Daʿwah continues with the great scholars we still have with us, ʿAbd al-Muḥsin ibn Ḥamad al-ʿAbbād, Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān, Rabīʿ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī, ʿUbayd ibn ʿAbdillāh al-Jābirī, Abdullāh Al-Bukhārī, and many others, may Allāh protect them from every harm and keep them firm upon the truth.

Who We Are

My name is Mikail ibn Mahboob Ariff, and I’m the administrator of tasfiyah.com. I was raised in America, graduated with a degree in English and moved to Saudi Arabia in 1416 H (1995 CE), where I have been working in the field of education and studying Arabic and the true Islām of the Prophet (‎) and his companions.

Currently, I attend lectures of Shaikh Dr. Ṣāliḥ al-Fowzān, but I am not someone you should direct questions to.

Please feel free to ask the Salafī students of knowledge in Riyadh about me. You can also find my translations on various websites on the net.

Indeed this knowledge is religion, so look to see from whom who take your religion. (Ibn Sirīn)
